Planning for your photo session.

Here at the "Senior Portrait Center," during your portrait photo session, you’ll get to have at least 10 photos made. Later, from the orginals (sometimes called proofs), you'll get to choose which one you  want to use in the senior yearbook and which ones you'd like to have produced.

Don’t try to make a single pose accomplish everything. After all, you’ll want one kind of pose for future employers, colleges, or other official things.

And you’ll want another to give to your friends. Still another for your family.

And perhaps a fun portrait just for yourself.

FIRST...  Think about what kind of images you want to project?

Casual? Formal? Serious? Glamorous? Fun?

Look through the following list to help you decide which aspects and qualities of your personality and character do you want to reveal in some of your various photo:

Creative
 Warm and friendly
  A sense of humor
   Smart
    Serious
     Alert
      Thoughtful
       Care-free
        Self-confident
         Easy-going
          Strong
           Caring
            Cool
             Savvy
              Intense
               Wise
                Approachable
                 Athletic
                  Talented
                   Artistic
                    Intellectual
What else???

Now, think about which of those qualities you chose can be portrayed in your session.

Think about which traits might need PROPS to help you illustrate them? (your dog or cat, a stuffed animal, a friend, your vehicle, something to illustrate your hobby, a musical instrument, athletic equipment?) Sports photography

Which traits can be reflected by the type color and texture of CLOTHING you choose? (Even in our most basic photo session, you'll get to have poses made with at least 2 different sets of clothes.)

Flower garden portrait What can be revealed by the BACKGROUND or SETTING you choose? Would a cozy garden help accentuate your warm and easy-going personality? Would a wooded landscape or rock outcropping reflect your love of nature or the adventurous side of your persona? Would bookcases or a computer accentuate your serious qualities?

Think about how your hairstyle, grooming, and your expression can reflect certain traits. Remember, you're a complex and multi-faceted person and it's difficult to reflect the real you in a single photo. So separate out and cluster your qualitites and then use several different poses to show the world your the many sides of your personality.

Keep in mind, though, it's best to be yourself. Trying to be someone you're not usually doesn't work.

Your Personal Style: Maybe you've never really thought much about your PERSONAL STYLE. If not, this is an excellent time to do that. Thinking carefully about who you are, what your values really are, and how you can project yourself to others can be a clarifying experience. So spend some time with yourself thinking and pondering the best ways to project the side of yourself you want the world to see.

Once you've decided how many different poses and outfit changes you'd like and whether you'll want an outdoor session in addition to your studio session, then give us a call.

Here’s the simple 3-STEP process you'll go through:

FIRST...  Based on how many different type portraits you think you want, you’ll choose a portrait session. You'll want a studio session in our controlled environment and maybe an additional on-location session outdoors at one of our scenic locations or at your home.

Then, after your portrait sessions...

SECOND... You'll come back to look at your ORIGINALS (sometimes called PROOFS). With a deposit, you'll also be able to take them home and study them for a few days.

Choose the ones you like best and which you want printed.  Then...

THIRD... You'll need to choose the size and quantity of the prints you want (or save money by choosing from one of our combination packs, adding additional prints if it doesn’t quite meet your needs.)
